Welcome to the Thomas Arnott Memorial Site

This site is dedicated to my father Thomas Renwick Arnott.

Dad passed away on December 16th 2004 at the age of 68. He was working with a survey crew near Fairhope Alabama when he was hit by a pickup truck. He died at the hospital the same day.

My dad was a father, a Land Surveyor an avid canoeist.

Please keep dad's memory alive by viewing his photos reading the stories of his life and submitting your own stories.

Excuse the mess, this site is a work in progress. This site will be available for a few years. At some point the contents will be printed and given to his loved ones.

I have many more pictures to upload so bookmark this page for the future!

Thank you for visiting and feel free to sign the guestbook.

Survey crew member killed after being struck by truck
Friday, December 17, 2004
By GUY BUSBY
Staff Reporter

A Foley man died Thursday after being hit by a pickup truck while he was walking across U.S. 98 near Elberta, according to Baldwin authorities.
Thomas Arnott, 68, was struck about one mile east of Elberta, Baldwin County Coroner Huey Mack Sr. said. He was taken to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, where he died, the coroner said.
Elberta Police Chief Gary Peaden said Arnott was one of three people on a survey crew working near the highway. The other crewmen had already crossed the highway when Arnott stepped onto the roadway and was hit at around 10:30 a.m.
"They were going from the north side to the south side and it just appears that the victim just didn't see the truck," Peaden said.
The chief said he believed that the survey crew was doing work in the area for a private employer, and was not linked to state or local highway agencies. No additional information was available, the chief said.
Peaden said Arnott was hit by an eastbound pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer. The truck driver was not injured.
Peaden did not identify the driver Thursday.
The chief said the driver did not appear to have been violating any laws. The driver was not speeding and there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use, he said.
No charges were expected to be filed, Peaden said, although the case remained under investigation.
Funeral services for Arnott had not been announced Thursday.
